It finally feels as fast as iOS 6 to me. It is so fast switching between apps, finally! The speed is back everyone. My mail app seems to lock up for around 5-10 seconds when I switch to it but that is the only issue so far. Loving the speed! (iPhone 6 Plus until Iphone 7 Plus gets here)

Part of it may have to do with the slightly sped up animations and transitions, but yes I concur. My kids and SO have iPad Mini 2 and an Air. On iOS9 it used to stutter quite a bit. On 10 it is smooth. Even on my iPad 9.7 Pro and iPhone SE, I noticed it runs a tiny bit more smoothly.

Yeah I noticed everything is snappier even opening web pages. It's a lot faster on iPad Air 2 also, compared to iOS 9.

I definitely noticed the speed increase on the ipad air 1 (ios 9 -> 10).

As for my 6s, it feels about the same. then again, whether ios 9 or 10, they both were fast.

Yes, so glad they sped up the animations and transitions. Love it.

Here
App loading times haven't changed significantly, but the most important thing is that iOS 10 *feels* fast, you can interrupt unintended animations and all the system animations have been sped up. It is a dramatic improvement.

I don't know. The delayed response to hitting the home button is really annoying

This!

Once you have the app up and running, takes about a second after pressing home before the animation starts taking me back to home. Might as well 3D touch on left edge then select home, slower but less annoying

I'm having the same issue with the Mail app, I just open a thread on that. Same I'm waiting for iPhone 7 Plus.

Not for me. The general speed of apps is at least as good as it was, but my internet speed has gone into the toilet. It was OK, not great (Air 2 on about 1Mbps wifi), but things have gotten laggy since 10.

iOS fells much (I mean really much) faster both on my iPhone 6 and 5. But didn't notice that change on iPad mini 2 - it's more or less the same as it was before.

The animations make things feel faster and on most system apps things actually do open faster but all third party apps open a titch slower in actual load time. And there is a delay with the home button closing apps and the app switcher stutters now on my 6. So I went back to 9.3.5 because overall speed is what matters to me. Every year they take it down a notch on the previous devices to make sure their newest is the fastest of the bunch. Sure the animations feel nice at first but really things are loading a bit slower and I noticed it over time.

For older devices, yes ios10 makes the animations faster but since it takes the same amount of time to load the app, you often have to wait for the app to load.

It's not just the animations but the responsiveness too. Like you can hit the home button while loading an app (say you made a mistake) and it'll go straight back home without delay or ignoring it. Navigating around is a much nicer experience now. Not noticed apps loading slower, but won't deny that's real. However just doesn't impact actual experience much for me. Also scrolling is smoother. Really enjoying it.

I guess people see what they want to see.

I just downgraded to the last 9 iOS and it's faster than 10 on the SE. You see that when using the browser etc. or typing.

I might upgrade later when the first bugs are gone.

And I must say except of the dual language keyboard there is nothing of the new features I would use.

The news widget in the lock screen can't be adjusted to personal needs, the iMessage features come 20 years too late for me (am too old for stickers I found out), HomeKit I'm too young for (found out I still can walk to a lamp to turn it on or off by simply walking).

Also my phone got very hot each time I connected it to the charger. Used 10 for some days, but 9 is faster and more stable at this point.

I was always wondering why in those tests the weather forecasts are different on both devices...

i cant say im seeing any differences in a performance than earlier. Only animation is faster, but that is just settings how it works - can be adjusted slow or fast or what ever they want to do with it.

only difference i can recognize is that my iphone 6s+ is getting warm in use and draining the battery. Air2 seems to be work as always. the other thing is that i could only imagine but it feels that charging the device takes longer than before.

Scrolling through the multitasking app card doesn't seem that smooth to me on the iPhone 7 and I'm coming from an iPhone 5 on 8.4.
