Got my new iMac 21.5" yesterday. Got it installed at 8:00 PM and used it until midnight. Used it a few times this morning as well. Discovered I needed a data file off my previous Win XP unit and had to "fire it up". Man, is that Win XP box ever slow. Even copying the needed data file to its USB stick (to move to the new iMac box) was slow. As slow as a sleep walking turtle crossing the road  And back in its early days, that Win XP box was faster then my previous Win 95, Win 98 box. This new iMac 21.5" (even with its slower i3 processor) blows my old Win XP box away... And its faster then our Win 7 HP laptop box as well. I imagine the new iMac with i7 cpu would be near the speed of light (well, almost).

Funny how things keep getting faster and faster (or, better and better) as time goes on. Especially computers.... :)

Hope everyone is enjoying their new iMacs as well. We're definately going to keep this new iMac box...

iMac with i7 wouldn't be faster in basic tasks but an iMac with SSD would simply scream! Nowadays the biggest bottleneck is the HD

Why is everything a 'box'?

You are right. I need to stop using the word "box". That's so 90s...

"system" might be a better word - since an iMac isn't really a box.

To me, it's an `over muscled` computer screen :)D)

I like to think of my iMac with, like, big eagle's wings, singing lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with, like, an angel band, and I'm in the front row, and I'm hammmered drunk.
