Hey all,

I'm finally starting to make a little money after a literal lifetime of school, and I'm talking to people about investing. I got a lot of good advice I'm not going to even attempt to try and cover here, but a few people suggested buying a stock you are familiar with. Also, as I'm sure most of you know, it's important to not buy/sell on a whim but to hold out for the long haul (obviously there are exceptions to the rule).

So here is my question: how do those of you who own Apple stock, visit this site and manage your investments appropriately? I mean...I'm afraid if I buy Apple stock I will be wanting to buy and sell a lot based on the rumors I read on here...which I'm pretty sure is, for the most part, not a very good idea. Do you MR regulars avoid Apple stock for that reason, or do you feel like to can make better, more educated trades based on what you know about the company? OR do you have rules about trading that prevent you from buying/selling based on rumors. For example, "I will only purchase more shares after x months or when I have x amount of dollars to invest." I know these are fairly basic questions...but this is where I am ha!

Thanks!

Apples and oranges, if you're using the threads and discussions here at MR as a base for your investment decisions, then you're going to be in trouble.

I think you need to look at other factors when determine investments, and not an internet forum - just my $.02

I'm just curious if anyone specifically reading MR has any thoughts on the issue. I have some basic rules of investing I've nailed down... I am friends with a few professional investors. It's just, none of them are really interested in Apple and technology the way I am. Thought I'd ask. ;)

I have apple stocks. I just buy as a long term investment and I don't sell. I bought my first 200 shares at $94 and another 200 at $114.
