Managing iCloud and my Apple ID

I just updated to iOS 5 and started using iCloud, but apple won't let me use my new @me.com address as my primary email attached to my Apple ID. I want all my emails sent from my iTunes account to go into my iCloud account, but it says that MobileMe accounts can't be part of my Apple ID. This account has never been part of a MobileMe account.
Any ideas on how to do this?

your mobile me email account

if your mobile me account was not imported into your icloud than you will have to utilize another email address to as primary for the account.
