How do you choose to manage software during upgrading if you do not use migration assistant or something of the like? I am still contemplating putting an SSD in my late 2008 uMB and upgrading to 10.11 during that time and have read that I shouldn't use migration assistant because of the big jump from 10.6.8 to 10.11. I also will probably purchase a new MBP within the next year or so and would hate getting slapped on the wrist by the software companies for installing onto what they would perceive as two new laptops with my current purchase.

My main software of concern is Adobe Photoshop CS5, Rapidweaver and Microsoft Office.

Thanks,
Brian

Typically apps like that have the license/serial number associated with the hardware UUID, so any hardware change like a new drive will require reentry of the registration information. There really is no way around it.

Correct but would Adobe and Microsoft allow me to register it with a new piece of hardware? I understand I will need the registry information but am worried that I still won't be able to use the software even if I have the information to reregister it. I am just trying to look at this from all angles.

Thanks!
