After many problems with upgrading to iOS6 I decided to install the iPhone as a new phone and don't restore to any previous backup. All my apps were then downloaded OTA from the App Store. Now I have all I need on the iPhone and it is working great.

My situation now is that I have one app on iTunes that has been retired from the App Store so I cannot get it OTA into the iPhone. I have been trying to transfer it manually with no success. My iTunes is full of apps for iPad and iPod touch that I don't want to transfer. It would be a PITA to select every app I already have on my iPhone again (150 apps) in an ocean of more than 400 apps I have on iTunes so that it can sync the apps including the one that is retired from the App Store. I only need to transfer this one app!

Is there an easy way to transfer this only app that does not involve syncing ALL the apps again to the iPhone?

Thanks!

I might have misunderstood what you want to accomplish, but can't you just go to your iPhone's Apps tab in iTunes and just check the box beside that one app and click sync?

The app is no longer available in the app store so the only way is to get it is from iTunes on the Mac

But, it should still be in your list of apps on your computer. When you click on your iPhone in iTunes and then the Apps tab for you iPhone, you should see all the apps stored on your computer. You should just be able to scroll down to the one not in the App Store anymore and check the box next to it and then sync it back to your iPhone.

How do you select just ONE app to sync?

I have one app on my iPhone that I want to transfer to my iPad. It's an app which has been deleted from the App Store, and I need to install that ONE SINGLE APP on my new iPad without affecting whatever other apps I have already on the iPad.

The problem is that in iTunes 12.6 there is no box to check next to the app in order to select it. There's a Remove button or Install button only. But I don't want to remove or install other iPhone apps. Just ONE.

How can I do this? Thanks for any help.

PROBLEM SOLVED: as it turns out, I clicked on Install and then Apply, and it installed ONLY the app I needed.
