Hello all,
This is my first post to this forum, so I would like to start by thanking everyone in advance for all the help I have received from other people's posts over the years and for the any help I will receive on this topic.
I own a computer service company here in Northern California and one of my long time clients has really put a project on me.
This client has tons of photos (let me first say that he has quadruplicates of tons of these from syncing wrong for so long, but that is another story altogether and any help on removing duplicate photos would be much appreciated).
He has 2 ipads (one for his wife and one for him), a macbook pro for his wife, an iMac for his wife, and they both have iPhones. He works on a Windows 7 machine at work.
What he wants done is to have everything synced together, so here is my plan to accomplish this. I don't know if I am doing this right or if there is a better solution.
I am going to set up his wife's apple ID as the main ID. On her devices, I will set it up for her purchasing and photo stream as well as contacts, calendar, etc.
On his devices, I will just set it up as the store account for purchasing as well as for photo stream.
He will use his apple ID for calendar, contacts, etc.
I will also use each of their IDs for backup to iCloud for the iPhones and iPads.
Now that you have an idea of what my plan is, here is what I need to accomplish by doing this:
1. All photos in sync between devices, and backed up to Carbonite which is installed on his iMac.
2. Their own calendar and contacts which will be synced to their own personal devices.
3. Automatic downloads of any new pictures that will be taken on any of their devices and backed up to carbonite.
4. Automatic downloads of any new purchases from the app store or iTunes across all devices
My questions:
1. Is there any way to transfer the videos that are taken with the devices without physically plugging the devices in to a computer and syncing? If not, how would we go about syncing their devices with the iMac (which we have designated as the home base for everything) and not messing everything else up?
2. Is there any way to sync their entire iPhoto library over the cloud to their devices? (events, faces, albums, etc.) If not, how would one go about syncing the iPhoto library to the devices without messing everything up.
3. Is there any magical way to eliminate the photo duplicates?
4. How does photo stream work, does it back up the photos to the computer? is there any way to make an album on the iPhone to copy photos from photo stream to? Are all the photos deleted off the devices after the 30 day window?
5. How does photo stream data and the iCloud storage work? Does photo stream use up the iCloud storage?
I know this post is very scattered and not laid out very well, but I am just going on my thoughts at this time.
I just need to know the best way to set this up to be streamlined, fool proof, and all data safe and backed up.
Again, thanks in advance for any help!
