I get the same vibe as browsing the App Store on Apple TV. A barren wasteland with the same old apps that were there since launch day. Apple TV App Store has never gotten better, and I don't have high hopes for Mac. Of course it's early days and maybe developers have pulled their apps until they can test them on their own Mac before being okay with them being in the App Store. I know a lot of major apps already had a Mac app so don't expect them to sell their "cheaper" iPad app for the Mac.I was hoping to use Netflix, Amazon Prime video, Google voice, etc. in my new Mac. But none of them exist. Then I tried some bank Apps, none exist either. Such a disappointment.
The YouTube iOS App is worse than web version IMOI miss YouTube.
Same here. I hadn't high expectations to this, but would have liked to use tapatalk and maybe the reddit app on a Mac, but those aren't available.
I installed Tapatalk no problem. Are you hitting the button to select iOS apps while in the App Store?
1. Not true. iPadOS apps I have on my MBA M1 are resizable if I drag the window corners in any direction. *1. iPadOS apps are currently limited. No screen resizing for one.
2. DTK performance and behavior has been different from the actual M1 releases! This helped our soon the be released new macOS app, but is still giving us trouble with an iPhone app using BLE.
3. iPadOS BLE is still somewhat broken and we are working on work-arounds. No docs, it "should just work," but isn't. We are also looking at potential UX enhancements for the macOS like key short cuts etc.
Developers are holding off until thorough testing. App Store reviews are merciless.
I was hoping moving the Macs to Apple chips would mean we would have a much better version of what Chromebooks do with Android apps. Hopefully the iOS app situation on Macs is just due to it being the early days and things will improve.Chromebook brought Android Apps to the ecosystem and few years in, the experience is still not that great. I seriously question Apples foray into this concept.
It's not just testing it, but supporting it too.But hopefully more developers will allow their apps on Mac when they had a chance to test it.
I was under the impression Reddit worked on M1?Same here. I hadn't high expectations to this, but would have liked to use tapatalk and maybe the reddit app on a Mac, but those aren't available.
While it's possible to circumvent the restriction by copying the ipa file from your iDevice using iMaze to your Mac and start that, I think that hole will be closed soon.
But hopefully more developers will allow their apps on Mac when they had a chance to test it.
It would have been better to just not allow our app on the iPad, but now we're stuck implementing landscape mode instead.
I think you missed the pointSo, Apple makes you improve your app? That's great! That's why we love the Apple ecosystem.
