I have been trying to jailbreak my iphone and have had nothing go right for me. I have read every guide out there and have tryed doing it with QuickPwn, Pwnage, and Ziphone and nothing has worked.

With quickpwn i get to the stage where it asks me to hold to power and home button down, i follow the instructions but it wont enter the dfu mode.

With Pwnage, i cant even get it to recognize the firmware that i downloaded which is the iphone, 1,2.2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw.

I then thought maybe it was because i was using 2.2.1 on the iphone so i started doing the research on downgrading to 2.2

I did the alt + restore to the firmware 1,2.2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw, i then get the 1013 error which is expected and it goes in the recovery. After this every guide says to open quickpwn where a message will tell me to hold down the power and home for 15 seconds... this message never comes up because it doesnt see the iphone. I cant click the iphone 3g icon like i can when it was previously connected to the computer.

I am usally pretty good at this stuff and have read many guides. Nothing i have done is working. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your inability to enter DFU is problem. Either get a USB hub or check out the articles about the software patch for 10.5.6 and this should solve the problem quickpwn is the easiest solution once you can get into DFU mode.

Your solution requires a workaround that's not that difficult. You need to register with Apple as a hobbyist developer, download and install a file, run quickpwn, download and install a second file, then you're good to go. Sounds a bit daunting but it really isn't. Here's the link for the site with file links and instructions. Good luck and let me know how you get on. You'll see once you do it the advantages. Just remember, it seems to me that if you put too much stuff on your phone and run it, it can slow down performance. Keep it lean would be my advice.

Wouldn't using quickpwn mean he's on windows? I've never heard of windows users having problems with DFU

Or do they have quickpwn for mac?

thanks for the replies, i am going to try doing the apple hobbyist developer fix first. I will let you know how it goes.

also, i am on a mac

ok, i finally got it to jailbreak. I downloaded the software from the apple developer site and that worked like a charm. I have cydia and installer on the iphone now.

Now the next problem i am having is getting apptap or appsnap to install. I have read that i could be my wifi connection so I will use another on tomorrow. When i go to the jailbreakme.com website there is an image in the top right corner but nothing happens.

I also tryed the apptap and i selected firmware 1.0.2 and it put the iphone into recovery mode so im going to lay off of this method for now unless anyone knows what firmware version i need to use.

Thanks for all the help
