Hi

I have a MacBook air 2013 with Catalina installed. I am trying to use a Windows keyboard to work with it. I know that the key difference is the Cmd key which is missing on the windows keyboard. so I mapped the key appropriately using modifier keys. However I am using a windows virtual Machine ( Cisco) within the Mac and this is where things get messy.
When I try to do copy, paste etc shortcut functions within the Windows VM it doesn't work. However on the Mac machine itself it does work

Is there a way around this? or is this whole setup too complicated i.e using a windows keyboard on a mac machine and working within a windows VM within it?

The only difference between a Mac and a Windows keyboard is that the positions of option and command will be switched. As you may have noted, you can switch them back in System Preferences.

The mapping between Mac keys and keys in a VM is handled by your VM software. You have to tell us what software you're using.

Unless you have something weirdly mis-set, there shouldn't be an issue with cut copy and paste, since the control key maps to the same position on Windows and Mac.
