My wife and I just bought a new car and are learning to use Apple Maps with Apple CarPlay. I set up my iPhone 11 to show "Parked car location." Worked fine. However, when we went to set up her iPhone 11 for the same option, her phone did not show "Show Parked Location" as an option under Settings in the Maps app. We can't find any searches that address this problem, so I'm hoping my guru friends in MacRumors can help us out here. Any advice on getting her iPhone 11 to provide "Show Parked Location" option would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chubbles

As above...this centres around the phone being paired over Bluetooth to the car. It works on the connection starting and ending with the car, so when it connects you will get options for frequent locations to show the directions and when it disconnects it flags up the show parked location.

mmchabig, bransoj thanks
The 2021 Avalon does have Bluetooth, however when a phone is plugged into the car's multimedia system the Bluetooth is disabled, the screen can display the phone's map, and the car's microphone is used as the phone's microphone.

Both of our phones are registered in the car's Bluetooth system so one is connected and used for contacts etc. whenever we drive the car and a phone is not plugged in, however I'm going to check the Bluetooth settings on both phones.

Thanks,
chubbles

Hey folks,
we have been working hard on our situation. We tried "Forced restart" as described in the iPhone manual with little success and also powered off both of our phones several times and then went to Settings>maps and Show Parked Location is there on both phones. ? Not sure what solved the problem, but the important thing is it is solved!

Thanks,

I found this option requires to turn on another option under location service:
Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services (at the very bottom) > Significant Locations "On"
Whenever you turn on Significant Locations, the option of "Show Parked Location" under Maps setting will show up.

Thanks so much, this worked like a charm. Restart is required after turning on "Significant Locations".
