I have updated to iOS 13.1.2. Although there are many useful enhancements to CarPlay Maps navigation in iOS 13, especially the display of traffic lights or stop signs before your next turn, I have been having some problems when I am using CarPlay and I am not in "destination navigation" mode. For one, the useful compass direction in the upper right corner of the screen is gone. I was really useful to be able to tell which direction I was headed. The main problem is that the popup screen that is supposed to only appear when I touch the screen is popping up randomly and taking most of the real estate of the display until it goes away in a few seconds or I touch the screen outside the white rectangles in the popup. No change in settings have been able to fix this. Does anyone else notice this? It is very distracting and frankly a little dangerous since it comes up every few minutes.

Might be an issue with your screen...does your car screen have sensors near the bottom that activates options when your hand gets close? The one in my newer VW does and will bring up menu options for the screen as soon as my hand gets close enough. Yours may be doing the same and bringing up the navigate boxes because of the sensor in the screen (you can typically see them in the black area just below the screen if you shine a bright light there).

Other than that suggestion, got nothing...mine has been working fine including seeing the direction in the upper right corner, but only while navigating. Like the speed limit, it only shows when you are navigating to a destination...has always been that way as far as I can remember.

Having many issues with my Honda as well with iOS 13 Carplay. More so bugs.

I got the same issue you're describing OP. I restarted my iPhone and it went away (but came back).

I wonder what the firmware upgrade process is for your vehicles and if that is the issue?

I know I have to do it for my Audi (aftermarket Android module), but have no idea how to do it for my VW. I think most people would assume it is automatic, but how often do they push something like that?

I keep checking and my car firmware is up to date. Since Honda does have a rather sizable marketshare, I think Apple and Honda should get together and fix this. Other things on CarPlay include using Maps in navigation mode work very well.
