Hi,
For some reason Apple map stopped loading. All I get upon opening is a blank screen with grid lines. This problem also exists with all my apps that use a map (weather and weather radar as well as others).
To be clear, Apple Maps on it's own will not load as well as the apps that use a map. However, Google maps on it's own WILL load.
This is what has me baffled. It leads me to believe that the apps that are using a map use Apple maps for their display.
Everything is updated and settings have not changed from when things were working properly.

What I have done so far-
Shut down/restart
Shut down reset
Remove and reinstall apps affected
Remove app > Reset > Reinstall app
Remove app > Reset > Reinstall app > Reset

I am at a complete loss as to what could be going on here.
Wifi is connected and there is no problem with anything else. Location services is turned on. With the weather radar apps everything else displays just not the map.
Google maps DOES display as normal.
Same thing is happening with my iPod Touch.
This happened a few weeks ago but the problem seemed to correct itself after a day or two.
At that time the iPad had the problem but the iPod displayed normally.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Need this info with this storm coming.

Thanks in advance
Lou

Problem solved

Another issue I was having was I was unable to log into iMessage. One solution to fix this was to check and / or correct time and time zone settings. I corrected my settings by correlating the time with the time zone. It was set at Eastern time zone with Pacific time. Problem solved with both iMessage login and maps display.

Why this would affect the maps is beyond me but now they display properly.

Maps load from GPS data,if device is set to wrong time zone, there will be errors. All GPS equipment has to be set to the right time before working properly.

Hey Stefan.
Both devices are WIFI only. No GPS. Sorry. Should have stated that in my post.
In the past I have traveled and not changed the time or location on either device. Just kept my home time. I think the problem this time is that I had one time zone set for location and a different time set that did not correspond to that time zone.

If you're on wifi, the GPS location is set by network hotspot, but you still need to have the right time zone set.
