Maps without Siri

Does Maps do turn-by turn *without* Siri ? (i mean in real-time)

As i input current location and destinations ,location services was: "off", and taped "Go" but as a was driving all i could see was a static map which when i zoomed in to see street names, i had to browse to viewable area

Did i forget something ?

What? Why did you turn Location Services off? Maps can’t give you turn-by-turn directions if it doesn’t know where you’re at.

If you don’t want the Siri voiceover when navigating, go to Settings > Maps > Driving & Navigation, then change the Navigation Voice Volume setting to “No Voice.”

True, its doesn't know *automatically*, but you can still type your From address

I don't have siri anyway (its disabled). All i'm wondering why i am not getting real time mapping?

Its just a static route after tapping "Go" and while i get the indication of the parth (highlighted) it does not follow that path while driving.

So my assumption is real time mapping is only available when siri is enabled....??

Siri has nothing to do with navigation.

It's really simple. You turned off location services, which deprives the app of what it needs. How do you expect a mapping app to present a map of your location without knowing where you are?

You need to have location services on for it to work. Siri hasn’t got anything to do with it.

It can’t know where you are with Location Services off, which prevents it from providing turn-by-turn directions (as it has no idea when to provide you with the next step in the directions or any other additional guidance). This is true with or without Siri enabled.
