Will there be an app that will allow a user to watch the NCAA tournament games off the CBS website? I know they provide live feeds off their website during the tournament.

Well there certainly NEEDS to be. If CBS doesn't at least have something really slick to keep track of the games, brackets, highlights, etc, then they should be ashamed. Here in the heart of ACC country, March Madness is kind of a big deal. As a lifelong Carolina fan, living 20 minutes from campus, I'd really love a dedicated app to keep up with everything that happens. Oh, by the way....DOOK SUCKS!! ;)

There should be something like ESPN's Iphone website that we can use to track games. I highly doubt there's going to be an app to let us watch games. I think your phone has to have a tv built into it in order to watch them. Iphone does not have this feature. btw, GTHC ;)

I know you can check the scores and so forth on various apps and websites. The question I have though is that you can watch live all the NCAA games on the CBSSportslines website during the tournament. Will there either be an app to watch them or would we be able to watch them off the site? ATT is advertising that you can watch all the games live on one of their phones, can't remember what phone.

If you have an Iphone then you can't watch the games on your phone. ATT has several phones that feature tv broadcasts. There is no app out there that can do this.

hmmm, maybe you should get an education elsewhere if you can't even spell "Duke" correctly.

i doubt you will be able to "watch" the games since it would be a very bandwidth intensive app, which would make things worse for people in a college town.

I remember a while back while living in a college town that at 9pm, it would be impossible to make a call because all the college students started calling at that time because their night minutes started at that time.

at best, i think there would be an app refreshing the score and POSSIBLY play by play.

realistically, streaming live video for extended periods of time would kill bandwidth and battery life.

Uhh, spelling the word 'Dook' instead of 'Duke' is part of the joke. I've been watching Carolina/Duke games for 30 years, did you really think I didn't know how to spell it?

Okay, CBS has this app available now. Problem is, they're charging $4.99 for it! Wow, what a fail, I'm not gonna be paying $5 for an app that's only good for 2 1/2 weeks. Too bad, it sounds pretty sweet, as they claim they are streaming EVERY game live over wifi. Sorry, I don't know how to add an app store link here, but the name of the app is CBS Sports NCAA March Madness On Demand.

The company I work for produced this for CBS. It was hard to remain silent when I first read this thread since we weren't allowed to say anything until it was officially announced.

The link is here http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=307864832&mt=8

Yes $4.99 seems steep for something that's only good for a couple of weeks, but look at this way ... count up all the apps you've bought but only used a couple of times. If you're a basketball fan, you'll want this and use it constantly. Take this with a pinch of salt, since I do after all have an interest in this being a success, but it's a very good and well designed app.

I wasn't involved in producing this, but it was a passion for the team that did it.

Shame this app won't work outside of the US. I was extremely excited when I saw this appear in the app store only to be extremely disappointed.

The WiFi requirement sort of kills it for me. If I'm near wifi, I have my MacBook. It might be worth it just for the bracket and to be able to stream audio while in the car, etc.

Yes, we hoped to put out video on 3G and EDGE, and there's no technical reason why we can't - but we have to keep it to WiFi.

that's the main reason why i'm not buying this app. majority of my day is at work and i'm no where near a wifi connection.

I'd rather not have the nation's 3G and EDGE networks shut down because people had to watch basketball. Despite the yahoo claiming $5 for all the games is a ripoff (have you ever seen PPV before?), there would be a lot of people using this and clogging up cell bandwidth. AT&T JUST allowed songs up to 10MB to be downloaded, and I'm sure the streaming video would be a nightmare.

Is this something that will be available for every year or would we have to rebuy it next year? That may make the $4.99 price a whole lot better.

Michael CM1, does it make you feel like a big man to call me a yahoo because I simply pointed out the same thing that many, MANY other people will be thinking? I've got news for you, it IS a rip off to have to pay $5 for something that I can watch for free on tv or my computer. It's called taking a stand based on principle, and I'll throw in the standard 'in this economy' gripe here. PPV isn't free anywhere, so that comparison can be thrown out. In addition, I think it's simply a poor business decision. I think if the app was priced at .99 or $1.99, many more people wouldn't have a problem with it. The developers would make at least the same money, probably more money, and make a lot more people happy.

Wow, it seems I actually have some valid arguments to support my earlier post. Despite the fact that I'm a yahoo for simply having a different opinion, it appears that I actually know what I'm talking about. How about that...

And yes Android3011, I agree that it would make a huge difference if this could be used for future tournaments, but I don't think that's the case. It says the app expires at the end of the tournament, April 6th, 2009.
