can someone explain what is going on here? there seems to be a big fight over something but very difficult to find out what exactly marco said to piss off the verge. Can't seem to tell from their historical tweets was it during a pod? Just wanted to know what happened not take sides as this post will probably be removed if that is the case.

Nope. Marco didnt talk about the "other" issue and the JT issue came up after B&A.

The Box isn't so bad. A lot of the Acer Atom cheap-o desktops had that shape before the Mini shrunk. And it looks quite a bit different. The laptop is a bit eye-rolling, "We changed it from light gray to dark gray".
On the actual article, I see Marco's point but don't find it particularly egregious, especially since it's not a review but a news report about an announcement. His snarky little bit, while it is probably true, didn't match the article. Topolsky's response is a bit harsh, with lots of name calling but then again the guy really pisses me off so maybe that's masking my perception.
Just the box, the laptop. Eh.
I don't follow Topolsky so I can't say either way. But you have to love the fighting between those on the web, whether it is a blog, news site etc.

Translation Marco is a fanboy and like Daring Fireball gives all Apple fans a bad name.
Because Daring Fireball and Obama Pacman are about the two stupidest sites on the internet. I can understand liking Apple, but making up and giving stories ridiculous spins so your favorite company comes up in the brightest, shiniest light possible is about stupid.
There's something about Apple that turns otherwise normal people into severely braindamaged 4 year olds as soon as they hear mention of the company.
