iPod Mark/Flag sections of mp3 with notes

I am trying to mark/flag particular sections of my class lectures, which are in mp3 format. I am playing them through itunes, and was wondering if I could mark a particular place in the track, and take notes there so I can find that section more easily next time.

Can I do this through itunes or any other mac software?

You could split them into multiple mp3s, like tracks of an album.
