I have two odd marks on my stainless steel band. These marks aren’t visible on the clean oil free surface, but once you wipe your finger over the area it’s visible in the same pattern every time.

I suppose it’s some type of defect in the finish? Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. This is a Deep Purple model. Apologies in advance if I make you discover a new defect.

defect in finish. seen it over the years.
Would you wager it's purely cosmetic or could the lack of proper finish develop into a larger issue? Getting a replacement iPhone near release doesn't sound like an exciting prospect.

It’s a cosmetic issue. The paint job will remain as is through the life of the phone so you have nothing to worry about. I have had the same issue in a few of my phones and they are fine years later.
