You can Report Bugs from Support Section in Marvis Settings. But no need now, I've got your Report here.

Thanks a lot for Reporting the Bug.

That's Probably due to some 8.4 change, doesn't happen for me but I think I've already solved it in the Next version. I don't know what specific thing Crashes for you. Most likely it won't crash in Next Version.

I'll submit the v2.2 tomorrow, and it'll be available after a week or so.

It's Mavis itself that crashes and closes itself. Not sure what, but I guess I'll wait for the next build. Just figured I'd let you know! I'll check whenever it updates and let you know if it persists.

I've submitted v2.2 yesterday and it's 'Waiting for Review'. It'll go live in over a week, if Approved.

  • Cloud Icon for Items which are in the Cloud.

  • 3 Artwork Scale Modes - Targeted for Non-Square Artworks.

  • Albums View now shows the Year Info as well.

  • More Info about your tracks in Get Info View.
‣ Size, Date Added and Last Skipped Date.

  • More Options in Share Sheet.
‣ Open In Music, Copy Link, Open iTunes Page, Save Artwork.
‣ Get Info View also Supports Share Sheets now.
  • Select All button in Playback Queue, to Quickly Select and Remove Multiple Items from the Queue.

  • Added Album Grouping Type support for Artists, Genres etc. in iPhone Landscape.

  • Marvis now Remembers NowPlaying View's Last State(Open/Minimised) even after Marvis is Killed in Background.

  • Fixed some Issues which were specific to iOS 8.4. Some rare Issues are due to iOS 8.4 bugs, which should probably be fixed in iOS 8.4.1.

  • Added many more tiny little Features/Changes. Let’s see if anyone can notice.

Just chiming in since the thread's so quiet. Since the latest version dropped I've been using Marvis pretty much exclusively. I've played with many of the options and have pretty well settled on my preferred layouts. It's remarkable how much customization is available. I'm not used to *any* apps that allow me such flexibility.

Looking forward to whatever's next.

Well, Marvis is all about customisations. I know people love to customise things the way they like. Marvis offers so many options, one might not even have thought could be possible.

And What's next is the v2.2 which just got Approved a few minutes ago. It'll be live soon.

I have even more features planned for next version. Some of them I can tell are:

- Time Left until Queue Ends.

- Swipe Gestures for Play Next/Last in Media Views. Option to choose from Long Press/Swipe Gestures.

- Customisable Max. Number of Items Limit in Queue. Eg. You just want to add 25 Items to queue. You can set queue limits so even if you select an item from huge list. It'd only add 25 items in the Queue.

- and so much more.

I hope you'll enjoy it a lot. It'll be coming soon.

As for the app icon i also have a suggestion: current icon suggests that headphones are involved in music listening but sometimes it's not the case (speaker docks, car) so it might be interesting checking the result with headphones removed and a bigger music notation. A more flashy background color might convey better the excitement that music involves.

Different strokes for different folks. I like the icon.

Previously I was going to Change the Icon, but now I think I'd be mad to change it. It represents a hidden Meaning 2 in 1 - Cloud and Headphone. Whichever you want to see.

The big Music Note Glyph is so common. This one is Unique, I and many more users I asked love the Icon. One told me "Don't fix something that's not Broken"

So I've decided not to. I'm happy to know everyone's feedback. Thank you all.

Looking again to landscape mode it might work that on the left half only the album covers were displayed (with no text since i guess everybody knows artwork of their music) with no space between covers like on iOS 8.3 (It would lessen clutter and allows for bigger artwork).

And about clutter it might help to make the bottom icons displayed on request (Like on old iOS Music App).

You might have noticed that i'm against clutter cause it makes it visually harder to focus just on the music being played. You can only focus properly on very few aspects of the UI. Overwhelming designs can add to confusion (you don't know where to focus). Less things very thoughtfully crafted work best IMHO.

I prefer the gaps and having the artist name, I don't know all my thousands of cover art off by heart. It's impossible to please all the people all of the time so I guess sometimes Aditya has to make decisions for himself.

But I certainly agree with you about clutter.

Yeah I have noticed artwork missing but only if the artwork isn't loaded, so you can know that artwork info is available, just not loaded.

I'll add artist Images I have decided, Thanks for requesting. The main question is where to fetch it from. I'll even add genres and other images, and even add option to Manually edit each image. So if you feel an Artwork is incorrect/inappropriate you can set your own.

When you do this please consider setting the default option as 'no download'. I prefer to make my own choices in most cases.

This thread explains what's going on in Spotify and how they keep playlists and albums seperate.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/spotify-users-first-impression-of-apple-music.1897028/page-4

Again, the issue is clutter. Having albums show up with only 1 song just because it's in a playlist isn't user friendly. Maybe nothing the Marvis guy can do since he mention this may be the way Spotify has their database setup. I don't know, but it certainly makes for a cleaner approach.

I'm afraid I'm another one who doesn't understand what you're referencing, but I'm interested in what you have to say. I have read some of that thread you linked but there is so much cross talk I still don't follow you.

Are you able to list the steps you're taking to duplicate the issue, or post screenshots, or both?

Is what you're discussing only apparent when playing music from the cloud? Because I don't do that so will never see what you see.

Here I thought the app couldn't get any better. Great stuff.

Hi, I understand you are away right now so take your time answering. I just have one question. In iTunes I have some songs set to "skip when shuffle" but this setting doesn't seem to be carrying over when I attempt to play music on my phone. Is there a way to keep the "skip when shuffle" designation in place on my phone or should I rework my playlists? Thank you for all your hard work on this app, it really is a great piece of software.

Actually I haven't Tried "Skip when Shuffle" myself, But I think it won't Automatically work on iOS. I'll try after I return, I'll let you know. Probably Working with Playlist would be the workaround.

So glad you like Marvis.

What's New in v2.2
  • Marvis now Remembers NowPlaying View's Last State(Open/Minimised) even after Marvis is Killed in Background.

For me this is such a huge feature it cannot be underestimated. I mean I listen to albums as a whole almost all the time so I'd like to continue listening where I left off and having this saved almost always means I can continue at the exact spot. It's always the small things that count for me. :)

Okay I tried Skip when Shuffling. As Expected, it works in iTunes, but not in iOS. I tried one more thing I went to my iPhone's Music List, and turned on Skip when Shuffling for some items. That didn't help as well. I'm sorry, but I can't really think of any workarounds. I'll keep thinking about it, I'll post if there's an Easier way to achieve this.

Update: I tried Skip when Shuffling on iOS 8.3. It's working. Maybe on 8.4 it's disabled by Mistake or because iCloud Music Library is On, the Changes aren't Synced.

If Skip When Shuffling was Supported, Marvis won't be able to Support it, Because of the way Shuffle works in Marvis.

iOS Doesn't Provide APIs to Access NowPlaying Queue. So, to Infer Playback Queues, Marvis can't let Music App Shuffle Music(Marvis has to do it on its own), if it Shuffles, Marvis would not know what songs are coming up.

Dang you keep busy with all these updates and whatnot. Love the new changes of opening the now playing list to the current song.
LOL, I'm always busy - working on Marvis. Even before Apple Approves Updates, I prepare a new one.

The Next Update will be a Major. You can already guess - It'll be called v3.0

So Glad you're enjoying the Minor Features I've added, these tiny things can really affect a major way. Like in New Update I've added Multi-Line Values and Separators in Get Info View for better Readability.
