Just tried the demo off steam and I had maxed it @ 1920 x 1200 (2 x aa however) and i was getting average of 35fps but often low to like 21. Is the full game a better performer, how are you guys running it, and does performance vary based on area of the game? For example I am thinking my fps is low because there is a huge crash and explosion effects and fire everywhere. I ran ME1 maxed perfectly no problems BTW.

Windows 7 64 BIT Bootcamp
4 Gigs ram 330m 512mb version
modified drivers from 2010?
over clocked to highest safe values
again this the demo

ME2 (full game) runs very well for me on the 4850 iMac and the 8800GS iMac. I'm guessing the 330m is holding you back, although point taken re performance in ME1.

As you imply, anti-aliasing is a huge load for a video card, if you really want to play with effects and high resn, I'd suggest dropping the aa first and seeing what that's like.

To answer your questions, I didn't notice any particular difference in performance btw ME1 and 2, I just presumed they were basically the same engine and hence same performance. Similarly, I myself haven't noticed any particular difference in performance from scene to scene. I should say though that's entirely subjective, I haven't run fraps or anything.

(Oh also, I think you should buy the game anyway. Play it at 840x600 if you have to hehe. Personally, I prefer ME1, but it is still an amazing cool scifi rp game.)
