Hi guys,
I haven't been on the forums for a little while, but I'm back with a question that's been nagging at me since I ordered the Mass Effect 3 Limited Edition, and sent it away to a place that I won't be at for a little while more.

My question is this: How are people finding Mass Effect 3 to run on their Macs? I saw a video on youtube of someone with a late 2011 Macbook Pro running the game maxed at high res at 55-60fps (they reported). I have an early 2011 model (2.2 i7, 6750m 1gb), and understand there is at most a 15% performance increase between our two graphics cards (mine and the person who made the video). Therefore, 0.85 or seventeen twentieths of sixty is around fifty frames per second on a good day.

This may seem to make this entire thread redundant, however I downloaded the ME3 demo and ran it without overclock (I never do), and found that it ran at high res with max settings (not much customization potential in the visual settings) in the first part of the demo at anywhere from 20-50 FPS, but mostly in the 30 range. It seemed to stay at 30 as though it were locked there, and only raised to 60 and stayed there at 1280x800.

I'm basically wondering if there's anyone out there with a similar or same configuration as mine who is playing Mass Effect 3 and has results that they could share with me conveniently in this thread. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thankyou all,
Ellery

It should be okay-ish. I played with my main sig system, which obviously isn't really comparable. Did you turn off AA? You might search for some tweaks, the bulk has to be done via ini files since Bioware gave us a pretty lame port.

You can play ME3 with bootcamp or with wine.
Unfortunately there is an issue with wine and ME3 on AMD cards, so FPS will be horrible.
On nvidia ME3 runs very well in OSX and wine.

As an update for those who may look at this thread with a similar problem, I have experienced neither an-okayish performance or a horrible fps. I am running ME3 on a bootcamp partition on the platform mentioned above, at 1680x1050, with AA and Shadows enabled, with silk smooth framerate in all but a few very straining sequences, in which the FPS never dips below 20. Extremely satisfied.

I'll answer any questions :)
