Hello Mac users,

First post here - thank you for having me etc.

I'm having an issue with multiple files selection on finder - I use my mac to manage a lot of data so it's a bit of a pain.

Whenever I select with cmd+a or group select with shift, it looks to be fine but about half the time it has missed out two files somewhere in the centre of my selection range. It can manifest itself in either two files sitting there, one after the other, not highlighted OR; two files will literally disappear from the directory until all the other files have been moved out of it or deleted.

It's hugely frustrating, especially as I spend a lot of time renaming and renumbering image sequences as part of my job...

It tends to look something like this:

:mad::apple::mad::apple::mad::apple::mad::apple::mad:

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1 on a apple mac desktop and yes I have reset my computer.

Anyone else experiencing this? It's a hard problem to google.

Thanks in advance for your help

when I use cmd-a to select everything it never misses a file or two. That seems odd to be honest.

It happens even with cmd+a!

It's very strange...

It's most likely a network problem as it tends to happen on the network more regularly than from local file selection....

I have never seen a problem with file selection, but if few files got omitted from the selection, you can toggle them via CMD+click.

It's hugely frustrating, especially as I spend a lot of time renaming and renumbering image sequences as part of my job...

If you need to do this more often, I suggest that you learns some basic shell scripting (I would recommend the fish shell). It will make your life much easier.

Thanks for the advice guys.

My problem isn't so much with shortcuts or not properly selecting all the files; it's with the files dropping off after being selected, or not being visible to select in the first place.

That's a good idea - I'll look in to that now actually
