Hi,

Running two servers on 10.10.5 with server app 5.0.15.
There are no DNS issues according to -Checkhostname

Notice today that our Master OD will not start the service in Server.app. Well i did manage to get it to start, and then it said "unable to load replica list" and then turned off again.

What i've noticed is that if i create a user or group on either the Master or the Replica, they do appear on both servers. So they're obviously talking.

What's annoying is that the server has been fine since Oct 2015 and then recently it decides to do this. Nothing has changed, so some DB must be corrupt?

Error from console - Can't contact LDAP server when searching for bdb suffix, exiting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Darren

I have had OD masters go corrupt. Luckily the consultant who had set up that server had created a cron job to make a backup of the OD database nightly, so I just had to restore the DB files and we were rolling again.

Without those backups, I think your only option may be to destroy the master and recreate. :(

These days I'm using AD for authentication and OS X Server provides services without OD. Much more reliable.

So do you manage preferences via machine then net per user (group)?
Assuming you were asking me — you can assign profiles in Profile Manager based on Active Directory users and/or groups. I assume the same is true with WGM and legacy managed preferences.

I've also got a cron setup to create a backup. I'll restore from that later this week and report back.
