Math progs that integrate with word docs???

I find myself typing up a lot of equations outside of OpenOffice, and then pasting them into OpenOffice as pics. I don't like doing this, and it is quite time-consuming.
Can anyone offer a solution to putting equations into a word processing document? Or just a good Equation writer? I'm not talking about Mathmatica or Maple, not something that.

MS Office includes Equation Editor. I know you're talking about OpenOffice, but officially a "Word Doc" created in Word can use Equation Editor. It's not the greatest app, but it works.

There's a little app called... if I remember correctly, LaTeXiT, which allows you to specify math stuff in LaTeX code, and the app generates PDFs of the resultant equations, etc. This doesn't sound like it would solve your problem, though, since you'd still be working outside of OpenOffice (and you'd have to learn the LaTeX code).

Why not bite the bullet and learn LaTeX? It's free, and creates really nice equations, etc. If you find yourself writing a lot of math-heavy papers, it's really the way to go.

The full version of Equation Editor is the Design Science standalone app named MathType. However, I prefer MathEQ (formerly known as Expressionist). It really is the standard for WYSIWYG equation editors.

Ah, thanks Expessionist and MathType were escaping my memory. I had a lot of problems (supporting) with MathType and we ended up getting some licenses for Expressionist.

LaTex is what my old university used to use. Yeah, maybe I should give it a shot. Otherwise Mister those are the kind of suggestions I was looking for. Thanks everyone!
