Anyone go from Mavericks to El Capitan? I'm on the older 9.5.1 iPhoto and thus never went to 9.6.1 which was for Yosemite. I've got a pretty large iPhoto library i'd rather not lose but i'm assuming this transfers to the new photos app? iPhoto will cease to work once i upgrade?

27" imac
i7
SSD
2 TB drive instead of DVD drive
8gb ram

Thanks!

Your photos get automatically imported into the new "Photo" app. iPhoto ceases to work in El Capitan and Yosemite.

Only partially correct. iPhoto still runs fine in both Yosemite and El Capitan.

OK but probably not the version i have 9.5.1. I never upgraded to 9.6.1 so i'm wondering if I can even get it. Either way, guess i'll start the upgrade.

Can't get it. Same message I think everyone gets. "item is temporarily unavailable"

Good luck, hope it works for you. I've upgraded to El Capitan and deleted photos.app. sticking with iPhoto 9.6.1 as "hidden" photos still doesn't work (or maybe it's a feature?) in photos.app.
