Max HD capacity / Mac Pro e2008?

Can I put six 2TB drives in my e2008 Mac Pro running Lion (four in the bays, two in the optical bay connected to the empty SATA ports). Or six 3TB drives for that matter?

I ask because I don't quite understand why a computer or OS would "care" how big a drive is as long as the interface was correct.

Analogies-for-dummies welcome and appreciated!

Yes but you would need some data extension cables for the optical bays.
