I just bought a 24" iMac. it will be delivered sometime this week.

I was just wondering whats the max number of external monitors it can support?

Is it one or two?

if its one then i will go with one 24 or 27/28 inch.
if its two then i will go with two 20/22 inch ones.

Also whats the max amount of ram supported on this? does the intel platform support 4gb of ram or is the max amount 3gb? if i run vista 64 bit will it be able to see 4gb?

Without some kind of work-around your can connect 1 external monitor. You can connect more than 1 but it requires some kind of 3rd party hardware.

It supports up to 3GB of RAM

One external 24" monitor works fine, but I don't think it support higher. 3GB is the maximum until the switch to Santa Rosa I think. Then it will support 4GB.

thanks.

i was kinda hoping for two 22's but i guess one 24 will be fine.

i think 2gb ram will be enough for now.

I'm just curious. What would you need 3 large monitors for?

i dont really need 3 large monitors. just wondering if i could do it.

one 24 costs about 500.
two 22's cost about 500.

i would rather have two 22's instead of one 24.

and in reality i dont even "need" one 24 inch monitor buts its nice to have.
