I just bought a used copy from an amazon z-seller and I just wanted to make sure that this game will run on Leopard. I've seen it on compatibility lists on other forums but, I understand it runs in the classic environment - which we know Leopard doesn't support. Is there a OS X patch for this or have any of you played this on 10.5.1?

Just check out this guide which has a list of compatibility of Games.

It looks like you may need to download a patch to run in OSX, but it apparently runs well.

Says it runs well on a "powerpc". I'm running an intel core 2.
Thanks for the link.
Can't find anything about a mac patch. Is there a way to emulate a classic/ppc environment with Leopard?

Please read the entry. It will run under Rosetta (which allows PPC software to run on an Intel Processor), all you need is to get the OS X patch (which will make is run in OS X instead of Classic) then it will work fine.

Max Payne error message on Mac Pro Intel

I've been to that Universal Mac Games page too and have not seen anything about a patch to run Max Payne.

I've even re-installed it and I get the same error message when I try to launch the main application.

"You have to select a platform from the Max Payne startup dialog."

Now how to do I get to that startup dialog? Isn't there a key I press while starting up the appl. to access it?

Any help would be appreciated!

Starts, then exits, with no visible error messages

Hi,

I just installed Max Payne on my MBP with 10.5.5. When I try to run it, the icon appears briefly on the dock, then disappears. I have not been able to find any error messages in the logs.

Given the reports from others indicating that it works, would anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with with 10.5.6, Max Payne, and my MacBook. Did anyone come up with a fix?

To make the startup window appear, hold down the option key when you double-click on the game. This should solve the problem.
