I have a Black MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz. What is the maximum RAM supported? Sorry for the question but I've found conflicting answers... Also how do I find the official Apple part number for this computer?

I believe Apple says the limit is 2Gb so that you have matched pairs of ram. But I have heard that 3Gb can be addressed but you would have to find out from someone else about performance.

Apple says 2GB.
The chipset will recgonize and use 3.3GB.
And now, someone here is reporting 4GB as working (at least that was the case at the time I read it).

The thread I saw on that said that the "about this mac" was showing 4gb but last time I read it was unclear as to whether the computer was able to address it.
