Hi all.. I'm not technical enough to figure this out.

I was wondering How many streams of audio could I support receive over wifi.
at 8 bit and 16 bit at 48 Khz. over Wifi - from a device. Not the internet.

Is there an equation to figure this stuff that out.
would it be fairly reliable ? or tons of drop outs and useless?

Thanks

I recall seeing a figure of up to 35 Mbps bandwidth used to transmit AirPlay audio. But, if the transmission is something like voice paging, the bandwidth would be considerably less.

But, it may not be that straightforward. Senders and networks may be capable of implementing multicast streams where the sender sends out a single stream, and each receiver subscribes and gets a copy of the stream from the network layer devices. In this case, assuming wired Ethernet to the receivers, the limit might be nearly endless for most of us.

Great thanks. I don't need a lot of audio resolution.. so looks like I might go for it.
Thanks!
