I hadn't considered the new iPhone SE serving as a test case of sorts for the new Macs in terms of pricing, but it actually does make a lot of sense.
Not just the SE too. Consider the Series 3 Watch and regular iPad. They’re good products with good SoCs (though not as good as the one in the SE compared to 11). The Mac is the only major Apple product line that doesn’t employ such a strategy, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they use now to consider that given their services push.
