The volume on my Intel based iMac moves to maximum after waking from sleep. I've looked through various settings but am not seeing any thing that would be causing this. Anyone ideas what might be happening?

Weird, never had that happen—but then again, I haven't used an Intel Mac as a main computer in almost 2 years.

Which Mac is it, and which version of macOS is it running (precise version i.e. Monterey 12.6, etc.)?

It's a 2019, 27" with 3.7ghz i5. Running Monterey 12.6. Long story but I'd not been using the iMac much over the prior 5-6 weeks. Upgraded to 12.6 last week. Really don't know if the issue started before the upgrade, or if it happened with the upgrade. Volume for internal speakers increases to maximum after sleep. Stays where set as long as the machine remains in use. I'm not finding any settings that would cause this, but ...
