Maximize Button Behavior

Is there a setting somewhere to change the behavior of the "maximize" button (the green one)?

They changed the behavior in Yosemite to kick it in to fullscreen mode instead of having this button on the top right corner:

I just want it to maximize the window to the size of the screen, not go in to full-blown fullscreen.
