So I just bought the 27" iMac and maximized the screen on the lower right hand corner to take up the full 27 inches. But only the middle of the screen loads anything when I go to a webpage. I was wondering if there was a way to stretch the web page out in order to fill the entire screen. Thanks in advance.

I am guessing you are a recent convert from MS Windows and are used to the way the + sign works in MS Windows. This is the ONLY thing about OS X I dislike compared to Windows however there is a simple fix. Download and install RightZoom (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30591/right-zoom) and then put it in your login items in System Preferences-Accounts-Login Items) and this will solve your issue.
I've actually had a macbook for a year now, but when I maximize the screen in the lower right corner the font and text of the web pages increases to fill the screen completely. On the iMac, it seems the text is just centered in the middle and both of the sides are blank white space. I'll try this- thanks.
I think you've misunderstood him. Many web pages specify a page width for the content that their site displays, so no matter how big you make the browser window, it'll still only display that webpage's content in a narrow strip of the browser window. There are a couple of solutions, not of them are perfect. In safari's preferences you can specify the size of the minimum font size. I set mine to 12 or 13. This occasionally results in webpages being displayed slightly oddly, but it's rare and not a big deal when it happens. Another method is to hit command-plus sign on your keyboard to zoom the web page's content to a larger size.
I think I understand what you're goal is now, you are still going to have a lot of white space. You could try Command + to increase the font size and that should help.

Thanks, I tried both of those before and neither seemed to do a lot of good. This is unfortunate, I would have strongly considered the 21.5" opposed to the 27 inch had I known this would have been the case.
I'm pretty sure this is because your iMac has a MUCH greater resolution screen than your macbook, so when you make the browser window larger on your macbook it still is resizing the displayed content to a larger size because you're still within the maximum page width that that particular website's programmers set their content to display at, but when you do the same on the iMac you've already passed the width set by that site's programmers. I know I didn't explain that very well. If I'm right, then you'll see that only *some* web pages are cramped into a narrow strip of your browser, while other web pages will fill the whole window with the page's contents. Have you noticed this happening?
This is exactly right- craigslist and eBay seem fine. Facebook, Yahoo Sports, and some others are just the narrow strip and words overlap on one another..
Yup, that's the issue then. The only thing to do is complain to that website's owners/programmers and tell them their site is messed up and they need to change it. I wonder if there might be a safari extension that'll change this behavior. Go search around and see if you can find one.

I had the same issue on my 27 inches iMac. I installed BetterTouchTool which includes Windows 7 like window management options. You can then "snap" the windows so they take either full, 1/2 or 1/4 of the screen. I defined custom shortcuts so all my window management can be done without a mouse - very convenient.
