Maximum amount of processor power for a Mac Pro 6.1

Is 12 cores the absolute Max I can install in my late 2013 Mac Pro 6.1, my buddy in New York keeps telling me he has custom made late 2013 Cylinder with more then 12 Cores that he uses for movies film & Post Production, he had B&H build this 6.1 Cylinder for him which cost about $10,000 which was a lot of cash back in 2013 for a Mac CPU

Ask him for a screenshot of "Hardware overview" in System Report.

Perhaps he's looking at thread count and not core count. As hyperthreading doubles that number. As the Intel E5 V2 series stops at 12 cores.

Ask him for a screenshot of "Hardware overview" in System Report.

Or better yet, the output of sysctl machdep.cpu.brand_string in Terminal, which prints... the CPU's brand string.
