I have discovered that on my Apple MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13" (Unibody) the Maxthon web browser, unlike any other browser I've tried, is able to show streaming high-definition video without stuttering and also without causing the fans to "ramp up". An associate with an older iMac has confirmed the same on his machine.

A year or so ago there were reports of the Maxthon browser, which originates in China, as being some sort of malware or spyware...sending encrypted info on the user back to the Maxthon servers. I found subsequent reports that this information gathering was stopped, according to the developer. What I haven't found is a current analysis of the situation...only people echoing the old story.

Malwarebytes doesn't report Maxthon as any kind of threat so one would conclude that either it isn't a threat or that Malwarebytes is worthless.

Does anyone have any solid information on this?
