My 2007 imac is still running ok but the a1048 keyboard is starting to get sticky and erratic keys.

sometimes gotta hit keys 2-3 times to work and the "/" sticks sometimes.

anyway I like the feel of my 2009 unibody keyboard.
so was thinking maybe an a1243 slim keyboard would be better.

I want stick with an apple keyboard for the function keys and the white keys are easier to read where I have the imac.
White keyboard hard to find for windows.

So stick with apple.

I have been using the Apple keyboard a1243 since 2007 and I never had a problem. Unfortunately they have never upgraded the usb on the side to 3.0 (I am using one of the two ports for the mouse receiver).
I would never change it for the wireless model; not having numpad would make me crazy.

So you either stay with a1243 or go for something totally different like a mechanical keyboard.

i have no idea if it is good or not a low profile with backlit like this -link- is not that bad.

USB 2 is fine as only plug in a samsung mouse.

Yes, i find it nice to type on that keyboard. I can't use any keyboard with high key anymore (probably not very good to play games but that wasn't a problem for me since I've never played games on mine).

Only game i play is world of tanks.

like the look of flatter keyboard and if feels like my 2009 unibody one then I be quite happy.

I had mine 6 months but was 2nd hand of ebay as my imac cam without keyboard/mouse.

Are you talking about the a1243 or the new Magic Keyboard? I have been using my a1243 (always the same) without a problem for 9 years.

1243 not magic keyboard, magic keyboard has no numberpad.

full size one.

will get a 1243 off ebay and try it they not too bad a cost.

The first keyboard was an old mechanical keyboard, the second one was a A1243, not the new magic keyboard.

You aren't limited to Apple keyboards, use any keyboard you like.

I've NEVER used Apple keyboards since the advent of USB. Don't like the feel of them.

Have a question. I am using the Logitech K811 with my late 2015 retina iMac and just noticed that in system preferences when I go to keyboard there is no battery status icon. I know how to check that on the keyboard but was wondering why there wouldn't be the icon. Using a magic mouse and that battery icon is there in system preferences so I'm assuming it's because it's not an Apple keyboard. Or am I missing something somewhere that needs to be turned on? Thanks for the help.

I've just got myself an old A1048 keyboard. Much prefer these older style keyboard as they can be cleaned every so often. The newer apple keyboards are non-user serviceable. And when your kids spill anything in them, like milk for example, it's pretty much game over for the newer keyboards

Anyhow, cost me £20 so happy all round

I have no kids and I am only user of machine.

The 1048 is a goo keyboard but I cannot type fast on it.
Plus after using mac laptops i'm now used to flat keyboards not the curved 1048 style.

both the new and older style keyboards between £20-30.

Have you checked if there is a software to di it on logiteh site?

P.S. on the logitech site there is solarapp. I don't know if you have already tried and don't know if it has the option to add the icon. Let me know.
