Need some advise!
My iphone 5 which is jail broken has a faulty sleep/power button and looking online it seems I have to take it to an apple store and they will replace it - take it I will need to restore to normal iOS and with the new one I won't be able to jb? Is there anything I can do?!

"IF" they replace your phone you probably get a phone with 6.1.2. If not tell them you need to JB really bad. :D

Do restore.

You may be lucky and get a replacement with 6.1.2 on it anyway.

Either way the most important aspect here is you get a useable phone.

I would just use activator as well, i never use the power button though, so thats just me.

What do you want to do? Ask Apple to replace an iPhone that has 6.1.2? Do you seriously think that they will/can do that?

Yea. I got a iPhone 4 replaced once and asked for jailbreak-able firmware (4.3.3) and they agreed. I jail broke it before I left the store :)

sorry for the late reply, what i want to do is have a fully working iphone 5 that is jailbroken as it is now!

I'm not completely in the loop with jailbreaking, what has been patched etc nor what version of ios I am likely to get when being given a replacement phone so that's why i thought i would ask you guys.
I wasn't going to go ask for a replacement phone with a specific version of ios though :p

i think i have a few months left on the warrenty but I dont want to leave it, forget about it and then miss my chance to have it swapped so i will probably back it up and restart with ios then take it in store for a change :(
what will be will be i guess!

If it's still on warranty, it's really best if you bring it to apple and let them replace it (hoping that they will replace it if they see some issues on your phone) Restore, backup, go to apple and replace. Then JB again. hehe

I would definitely go replace your phone. I rather have a fully working phone rather than half working phone. I can live without JB but i can't live with a broken home button.

just an update, i went in to the apple store yesterday and walked out in less than 10 mins with a new (refurb i guess) iphone 5.
sadly it was on the new iOS and i messed up restoring from back so now on 6.1.4 :(
