Hi everyone. I am have been browsing this site for a while now, and have just not gotten around to signing up. Anyway, I have been modeling a project for a class in the Maya Personal Learning Edition for some time now. I recently ordered the student version of Maya, and just got it a few days ago. I really need to convert the Personal Learning Edition file to my student version, but apparently Maya won't let you do that. I believe that since the Personal Learning Edition was created for "trial" and not for companies, it can't import into the full version. Though, I think since the "full version" is a Student version, there must be some exception.

If anyone could tell me how to import the file into the full version of Maya, that would be great.

not used maya so don't quote me on this or anything but isn't the personal learning edition basically the same as the one used on your course

Have you actually tried opening the files?

There is no difference between the Educational/Student Full version of Maya and the Commercial version, other than license agreement, but the Personal Learning Version uses its own file system that cannot be read by any other program. You can open Full version files in the PLE, but not the other way around. It also watermarks all the viewports and renderings. This protects the work you do in PLE from being used for academic or commercial purposes, and maintains its integrity for personal use only. In short, the Personal Learning Edition and the Student/Educational version of Maya are not related.
