I don't know why I have this feeling but lately I've been thinking that maybe OS 3.2 won't be the version that the iPad will ship with...

and I'm even thinking that the iPad has lots of things going on under the hood (hardware-wise) that apple wants to surprise us with at the launch of this beauty.... or maybe later on w/ a software update (the way they did w BT on the 2nd gen ipod touch)

some of the reasons that lead me to think this way, is because, first of all, we still don't have an official "Guided Tour" on the Apple website. which usually they post them as soon as they announce a new big product. why isn't yet on? maybe b/c of some things that they prefer us to find out by ourselves?

another thing is the jump of 130$ for the addition of 3G/GPS. im not an expert here, but isnt a bit high for JUST those two things? or am i mistaken? and the 100$ jump for the added Gigs... i dont know, but I smell something fishy going one... but hey, by "fishy" i mean in a good way! :p

still other thing, why does the iPad simulator ONLY shows the settings app (and a really small part of it) and the contacts... again, fishy...

P.S. there's a pic from the hands-on that went on the 27th that shows an option in the settings that says "File Sharing: on/off". if i find it again ill post it..... again, fishy!

we'll only have to way and see! can't wait!!!! :D

This feature's been revealed in the SDK, too. Apparently there will be an area on the iPad where files can be stored for sharing between it and the host computer.

i think apple tends to hide alot of the features, but I think the firmware 3.2 will be the firmware launched with it. I think there will be alot of updates to the ipad and change the way it looked...similiar to the iphone first year.

I'm pretty confident that it'll ship with a newer version of the OS, or at least get an update within a month or two of release.

I don't think there will be any additional hardware though, especially not anything that is unique to the 3G models or to the larger storage capacity versions. The markup there is to subsidize the $500 model, in my opinion.

Yup, I think hardware-wise we know everything that is of interest.
But software-wise there are a few things that need to be sorted out. For example:
a) Exactly how will file sharing work?
b) Is it possible to print over wifi?
c) What about the "missing apps" like Calculator, Weather, Stocks, Voice Memo?

that was exactly the FIRST thought that came to my mind when i first saw the ipad's homescreen, but then when they announced the iBooks app, they don't actually have it built-in with every iPad, its an optional download. i think that those apps are gonna be optional downloads too, b/c there so many alternatives out there that a person could prefer (as for me, i was happy with the simplicity of them ;)) and so is the iBooks, they let you chose... i just love :apple:!

I would be fine with downloading these apps from the store. Especially because personally I don't need all of them.
But there is another solution to this. There could be some kind of Dashboard like mentioned in this thread.
