I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites that connect people who need development work done with developers. Something where you could post a description of the project you want completed and people could then offer you their services for a quoted price (obviously there would need to be a description of work to be done, some examples and references along with a bid price).

The person could than accept the "winning bidder" and work would commence. I hope that made sense. :p In short: I'm a web programmer (mostly PHP and SQL, some JS, and of course HTML... I'm not looking to design websites, but maybe develop some custom dynamic pages for an existing site, etc) and I'm wondering if there's a place to find potential clients.

I feel like none of that made sense because it's late and I'm very tired. :p Maybe someone will get it and have an answer though!

something like elance?

I know there's a bunch of similar sites, and maybe similar topics here..off the top of my head can't think of any..

I've come across various sites that are for that. I haven't used any though so I won't make any recommendations. Just Google for the them and you'll find them.

I've never used one of those sites, but my experience in browsing through them is that they are full of high-expectation jobs for little pay, and dominated by people from India and China.

a very good place to sub-contract work if you're to busy to dedicate all your time on a project but the post above is 100% correct they are all east asian people that do crazy sites for peanuts! some of them are doing full on $5000 sites for like $100 or so! no way you can compete!
