I bought an iPhone through a friend and it turns out its still linked to someones apple id. I can't do anything with the phone until I get his account info or get around it somehow, I've already tried re-installing the os, restoring it, etc. Do any of you have any other suggestions or solutions to this problem? Thanks!

At this time unless it is an iphone 4 you have no options other than have the original owner log into their apple/itunes/icloud account and remove it, at that time it will remove that user id requirement via wifi the next time it speaks to apple or itunes. doulci
Maybe turn it in to the police would be the better option

It wasnt a stolen phone or anything, the old owner and my friend don't talk therefore I can't get the login info. Thanks for the response tho

Yeah your story makes complete sense
You bought a phone from a friend that he got for you in present time and you can't make him call the other person because they are fighting even though you spend money on it.... Sure

Enjoy your paperweight
