Hi all,
I have looked for a similar thread so far but I did not find it. I have a first Gen MB Air, I got it on the first day it was released in the US. It did work fine at the beginning but overheating became more and more of an issue. In my household we have 3 more macs so I limited the use of the air to few minutes at time and I did use it rarely lately.
3 days ago I picked it up to read some files and I noticed the screen was no longer closing properly. It looked like the structure was bent. Having a clumsy wife and 2 small children I thought they have dropped it and that was causing the issue. Then I looked closer... when looking at the the keyboard from above I noticed that the area around the letter H,J and K seemed to be abnormally high. Then I looked at it from the profile and I realised there is a large bubble inflating below the keyboard! It has a diameter of about 10 cm (4/5 keys) and it is at least 2/3 centimetres thicker than it should be.
I'm no expert and I have never opened it... I presume the battery is sitting there and it has few issues. The MB Air still works. I have left it in the fireplace in case something goes wrong to prevent that the whole house goes on fire!
Could any of you confirm if the battery is located in the middle right part of the first gen Air? Are there any other owners that had similar issues?
Will apple do anything to help me, especially considering that this fault puts me in danger and possibly will prevent me from utilising my Air any more?
Thanks for reading and sharing your comments! Pictures will follow
