Apple have just changed my HD because the last one died. I remember the last one making a clicking noise when it was already dead (when trying to start OS X).

The new HD I have now, makes almost the same noise, but this only happens (sometimes) when I wake up the MB. I called Apple and they told me to take the MB to a Service Center, I went there but magically the sound was not made for the 30 minutes I was there (I hate when this happens:( )

Also, it's been 7 days since they changed the HD, and I read that when the clicking starts you have very little time for the HD to die. So anyone here has some experience with something like this, that maybe it could be something else or something?

Thanks,

Roco

One click when the drive first powers up (like when waking up from sleep) should be normal. Its when it starts clicking repeatedly and when the drive isn't just first starting up when you want to worry.

It never click while using it. Only when I turn the MB on or wake it from sleep, sometimes it makes it three times in a row.
But thanks for the info, I was getting really nervous, I don't want to be worrying always about backing up.
Let's hope Time Machine is indeed something easy to use.
