I have an old Apple LCD Cinema Display (acrylic) 22" which has a resolution of 1600x1024.

While I know that MB supports up to 1920 x 1200, all the modern 22" widescreen displays are 1680 x 1050. Why the discrepancy and will the MB support my monitor?

Thanks!

I suppose it will... but in any case there are a lot of Utilities that will let you configure a specific resolution you want (don't remember the name)

The fact that the old 22inch widescreen was 1600x1024 and today's 22inch widescreens are 1680x1050.

That's because everyone likes widescreen these days, so you can't keep the same resolution, that'd look a bit odd on a stretched screen. It has to be changed a little bit to meet the new dimensions.
