Anyway, if performance is your thing for whatever you do, then the 1.6GHz MBA with 4GB RAM should do it, as it has the highest specs.
But what do you want to do with the MBA?

For CPU performance, the 1.6GHz MBA's are 14% faster for 10% or less more. The 4GB is useful if you run apps that consume a lot of memory, such as running VMs or movie editing.

not sure why this thread exists... If performance is all that matters then clearly the faster processor and more ram is the way to go.

If you have the cash, splurge for the top end model. I play lots of Minecraft on my 1.6/4 and it runs pretty nicely at normal render distance+better lighting mod+occlusion mod. Runs alright at "far" distance too but skips here and there.


I felt like I had a less than perfect time running it on the base 1.4's in-store, but I didn't have extensive time with them as I do my own Air.

All other things even... Ram > CPU upgrade if you can only do one of them in this case.

I agree, 2GB is really not enough when buying a new computer these days. If anything you'll notice it more later on over how much you'll notice the extra 200mhz.
