In case somebody wonders what the MBA 11 is capable of, thanks to the thanksgiving weekend I finally found time to install (and reactivate) EVE Online on my 1.6 / 4 GB MBA 11.

Settings: low shader, high texture, shadows off
Under: Windows 7 32 bit (bootcamp)

I'm getting VERY solid 60 FPS running lvl 4 missions
And 30-40 in larger fleet battles.

Performance was not as satisfying when plugged into a 23" external display at 1920x1080. As far as gaming is concerned, the MBA 11 is more suited for on the go gaming, rather than desktop replacement.

Compared to my 2009 MBP13: better performance, quieter and cooler experience. Very pleased.

I'd be very curious to hear about your experience with a 1.4 / 2 GB MBA 11 and how it runs under Mac OS X.

What were the rates with the monitor?

It'd dip into the 20's in gate camps and such. Still very playable 40+ at stations and running missions solo but not enough for any serious pvp.

Eve online is the longest and strongest running SCI-FI based MMO. It's a space-faring game that harkens back to Dave Braben's Elite or Frontier, Space Rogue, and a number of others. You basically pilot a ship with which you can sort of choose any kind of job you like, that currently suits your fancy. You could be a pirate, a sort of bounty hunter, a merchant trademen or smuggler. The game has a full economy, which has different zones and systems having different prices as the market fluctuates between them.

What I did describe is what you do in those games, as well as in Warpgate for the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. However, it is taken to the MMO level with thousands of players that are active in the same galaxy. There's also only one connected server-base connecting all players of the game, so no need to worry about choosing realms and have no contact with players from another one.

There is no travel, on land, though, nor exit out of your ship. Then again, neither was that possible in the games that inspired it or Warpgate. You still create a character in the editor, since your top half is visible through communication and other things.

EVE ONLINE is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game(MMORPG) game that has been on the internet for at least 10 years! And still in developing and people are still playing it. EVE Online give you an opportunity to become something you cannot be in this real world.

Eve Online, the story takes place approximately 20,000 years after our times in a galaxy on the far end of the universe. You will be first play in the role of a capsuleer, you will be pretty much like immortal. Actually, in the game, capsuleers are connected to the highly advanced capsules from the inside – that will instantly download you consciousness to a clone of themselves when your body is destroyed physically.
