MBA 11 for world of Warcraft

I have a 2.4 c2d Dell with a 8400 nvidia geforce which I use to play wow. As far as I know the 320m is better than the 8400. Would the base model be a good replacement for my Dell laptop to play wow as well as develop apps for iOS devices?

I got the 11 inch, 1.4, 4gb ram, 64gb SSD and yes it runs wow fine. Org lags a bit but thats because im on blackrock where theres 200 people in 1 spot. 5 man's run at 60 fps, 40-50 when there is a lot going on. 10 man's, same thing. I havent done 25 mans but i presume itll still be playable.

Settings are all on low, view distance on "fair" and particle density on "fair" so that I could see the fire on the ground .

over all this light laptop makes a good portable machine to play wow with.

The processor and the graphics card aren't the best so you'd be looking at low to medium settings. Not sure if it would play better than your Dell because it has a better processor and WoW depends heavily on the processor instead of the graphics card(or used to anyway).

there are probably around 20 videos on youtube showing you gameplay of WoW on a Base 11inch MBA

and they all looks fine, at least around 40ish fps with medium settings

and WoW depends on both processor and graphics, but i think the 320 will make you play WoW better, i can't say for sure because i dont own a MBA my self

but judging from videos on Youtube, yes you can and should be better than your dell

My MBA (granted not a 11in model with a slower cpu) plays WoW just fine on "Good" settings. You might experience some slow downs running into a major town on high pop servers at peak times, but for regular instances and BGs/Arena it is great. Can't comment on raids personally.

Actually the 11" 1.6 Ultimate plays WoW shockingly well. I installed it just for ***** and giggles and was getting about 30fps in Org during prime time with good settings 1xAA 16XAF in OS X. NOT BAD AT ALL.

I am thinking the base model as well. I think I'll buy it since I don't really have any other high computational needs besides wow. Thanks for the replies. And as for those who play wow on this thing, how's the heat?

I have a 11.6" ultimate and I play WoW on it all the time. Its fantastic. Good settings, high pop cities are no problem. Arena, raids, 5 mans you name it. I would however recommend 4 gigs of RAM minimum. Makes a world of a difference.

Also pro tip. You can use earphones with a built in mic on the air and it will work with ventrillo. Ultimate in portability.

Its in this instance when the 320m will be better then a sandy bridge chip. I am constantly surprised in game and find myself saying "wow can't believe how smooth this is" and on such a light weight mobile device.

It runs fine on low. It starts to get spiky in populated areas and 25m raids if you go any higher. Granted I do manage to put view distance, particle density to fair and projected textures on and still get 40ish fps at its lowest point.

just as an update, i ended up getting the 11 inch 1.4 c2d, 4gb ram, 64gb ssd and WoW runs fine on low, spikes in cities if theres a lot of people, but other than that, it runs better than my old dell.

Well, if it is indeed a better GPU then sure, it should run better.

I find that WoW is heavily dependant on the GPU, not the cpu at all, of course there is a dependancy, but not anything you would cap off by the processor here.

I used to run WoW back in vanilla using a crappy celeron processor and integrated gpu averaging around 5 fps I believe, then I bought a graphics card and placed in my computer and got up to the 59.9ish average sweet spot in fps.

I mean, it's more GPU dependant than anything I know of, after this graphic card upgrade I still played WC3 with horrifying spikes so it didn't do much there
- To sum up, if the GPU is better as you state it might be, then it will definately run better or on par with your current config.

I use to play WoW on a single core Macbook back in the day, probably 5 or 6 years ago... I used an external high speed HD, maxed Ram, and a laptop cooler and I got about 15 frames in Ogrimmar and about 35 on the field.. so I'm sure you could totally play on an MBA.. thinking of installing SC2 this weekend...
