I just noticed something tonight, my MBA 11 won't charge my iPhone 4 from the right side USB. I kept getting a message saying that the USB device is drawing too much power and therefore the usb device will be disconnected. I then plugged it in to the USB on the left and it worked as expected.
I never noticed this since I always charge it from the left USB. Can anyone else with an 11" MBA, test the charging ability of right side USB?

Also, the fans would kick up very high when I plugged in the iPhone to the right side USB.

I read a similar thread a while back. Not sure if it was the 11 or 13 but same basic story.

Me too, apparently the amps delivered through one of the sides is reduced, so only one is suitable for charging.

Just got off the phone with the apple store and the genius said both USB ports should provide power to the phone.
Making an appointment for tomorrow.

Does this issue persist when using usb powered external harddrives? I know way back on the PowerBook's that the usb didn't provide sufficient power to usb powered external harddrives.

I just tried charging my iPhone 4 with my MBA 13 and it worked on both sides.
