Hi!

I'm in a market for a Mac and debating between the MacBook Pro or MBA...recently saw an ad on craigslist for an MBA 13 inch model for $1000 with the above specs.

Purchased in Jan. and comes with incase sleeve.

Do you think this is a good deal? I'm planning to use it for school and internet browsing and occasional imovie edits.

Had a MBA ultimate before but sold it due to fan issues. Hoping the lower CPU will cause less fan noise.

Any input will be appreciated.

It's 1189$ in refurb store so 1000$ sounds decent, especially with a sleeve.

Did you have a 2010 MBA? What kind of fan issues did you have? The slightly slower CPU should not affect the heat or fan that much. My fan kicks in if I do something CPU intensive like watch a Youtube video.

Very good deal, but i dont think it will be different with the Ultimate.
The 11" does seem quiter and cooler.

Thank you for your inputs...

I might go for the 11 inch instead...if it has less noise issues...

I think I might have had too much expectations for the ultimate MBA. With some multitasking I could hear the fan level go up pretty loud and that annoyed me.

With time machine running, browsing, and excel opened the fan at 4000 rpm...making a pretty loud noise. I also connected my cinema display.

Currently I'm typing with my wife's new MB Pro 2011 and it's pretty quiet with multiple tasks. I was thinking about getting her a MBA and me keeping the MB Pro.

I think 11 will be better if it runs quieter.
